Out of all the nut products on the market, did you know that walnuts have twice the amount of antioxidant polyphenols?

According to the University of Pennsylvania, these antioxidant polyphenols will help the body fight free radicals that are damaging to the cells, making diseases form. Nuts, such as hazelnuts, cashews, pistachios, almonds and peanuts are rich in unsaturated fatty acids, proteins and vitamins, but according to scientists, many individuals are not getting enough of them.

Head of research Joe Vinson states that individuals should eat seven walnuts a day. Eating this amount of nuts everyday will help to reduce the signs of aging as well as protect the heart against heart disease and some types of cancers. They have also been shown to help with type 2 diabetes. Walnuts are one of the most healthy foods for the heart.

It has been founded that walnuts contain the highest amount of antioxidants than any other nut. This super food not only contains antioxidants, but is loaded with healthy fiber, proteins, vitamins and minerals. They are full of vitamins B and C, and contain magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, and iron. Walnuts also contain the most oil in them ranging from 55 to 65%, and are 15% protein.

An interesting fact is that the walnut looks like a tiny brain. Many are astonished to know that walnuts help to develop the neuro-transmitters for healthy brain function. Many feel like this nut was created by God for the benefit of mankind.
In a recent study by the University of Scranton, antioxidants were studied in different types of nuts.

Those nuts included walnuts, pistachios, hazelnuts, peanuts, almonds, cashews, macadamia nuts, Brazil nuts and pecans. Joe Vinson stated that walnuts are ranked higher above peanuts, pistachios, almonds, pecans and other nuts.

A handful of walnuts will contain almost two times as much antioxidants then any other fruit nut. But people are just not eating a lot of these nuts in a day. Research tells us that walnuts should be included daily in an individual’s diet. Many do not also realize that walnuts contain 15 times more antioxidants than vitamin E, which is a well known antioxidant that is quite powerful.

Walnuts are most effective when they are eaten raw. Roasting them will reduce the effectiveness of them. Individuals may feel they need to avoid nuts at all costs because they find them to be greasy or fattening. But do note that walnuts will not clog the blood vessels as they are rich in the healthy polyunsaturated and mono saturated fats. Eating nuts will also give the body a feeling of being satisfied. To get the maximum benefit of walnuts, it is recommended that an individuals eat seven of them a day.
