The premiere of the third generation Mercedes CLS sedan is scheduled for the Los Angeles Motor Show in November.
The premiere of the third generation Mercedes-Benz CLS sedan is scheduled for the auto show in Los Angeles in November. However, from the British edition Autocar, they managed to get acquainted with the pre-season version of the car and reveal details of the model.
The new Mercedes CLS will preserve the shape of its predecessor. This is a 4-door low roof model that will fit the size and price between the traditional sedan E and S-class. There will be no Caravan version in the new generation, because the analyzes say that the interest in it is very weak.
Changes in appearance affect first of all the lights that follow the new Mercedes-Benz design. They are unusual in shape and with daytime running lights. The model has 18, 19 and 20-inch wheels.
The interior does not offer surprises, because it is similar to E and S-class. Before the driver there are two displays, one for the instruments, and the other for the multimedia system. Ventilation deflectors are the same as for the E-class. At the request of the buyer, the rear seats can be divided into two or three.
The model is built on the MRA platform borrowed from the E-class, but the electronics and most options are the same as the S-class. The standard suspension is on springs, and adaptive dampers are available as an option. The basic engines are two with four cylinders. Diesel develops 244 hp and gasoline is 299 hp. Follow line 6-cylinder engines, which in the diesel develop 285 or 340 hp, and in the case of gasoline – 367 hp. There will also be a version of the AMG with 435 hp, but it’s still unclear if there will be a variant with a V8 unit. In the announcement is also a “soft hybrid”.
