Jaguar has detailed its new SUV alternative.
The British automaker’s XF Sportbrake – Jaguar-speak for wagon – occupies a unique space in the local market as a luxury-focused station wagon with few direct rivals.
Consisting of a four-pronged model line-up, the XF range kicks off at $90,400 before on-road costs for the entry-level XF R-Sport 20d.
The base 20d model is powered by a 132kW/430Nm 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo diesel and is mated to an eight-speed auto with power delivered to the rear wheels.
The next model up is the XF 25t which is priced from $91,400 and comes equipped with a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol unit that produces 184kW and 365Nm with power delivered to the rear wheels via an eight-speed auto.
This is followed by the $123,450 XF S which utilises a 3.0-litre V6 turbo diesel pumping out 221kW and a hefty 700Nm to the rear wheels again via an eight-speed auto.

And what is becoming commonplace now with some luxury marques, Jaguar is initially launching a range-topping First Edition model based on the XF S which shares the same mechanicals but with a higher level of specification and is priced from $137,300.
Jaguar claims that the XF Sportbrake has a boot capacity of 565 litres or 1700 litres with the rear seats folded down. A gesture tailgate has also been included to allow for easier loading.

The XF Sportbrake also boasts a 2000kg braked towing limit for diesel models and 1900kg for the petrol variant. Jaguar’s Tow Assist technology helps prevent trailer sway without driver input.
Jaguar’s wearable Activity Key is also included on the options list, allowing owners to lock the standard keys in the car and access it via a waterproof wristband.
Inside is highlighted by a 10-inch touchscreen, while customers can also option a 12.3-inch digital instrument display.
The XF Sportbrake also features a range of active safety technology like autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, blindspot warning and rear cross traffic alert.

Full specifications will be revealed closer to the cars launch date in November.
