Bugatti’s future hyper performance, which will replace the Chiron model, will get a hybrid drive. This was revealed by the president of the French company Wolfgang Dörheimer for the Autocar edition.
Electrifying our cars is something inevitable. We are still far from developing our next such car, but until then, technology in the field of batteries and electric motors will progress. In addition, the requirements for ecology will become rising, so in our next super car it will be inevitable to use an electric drive, explained Dorheimer.
Production of the predicted 500 copies of Chiron will take about 8 years. In 2017, Bugatti plans to produce only 70 models of the model, and about 40 of them have already been sold. In that sense, Chiron is on its way to being more popular than its predecessor, Veyron, who has been in the market for 10 years and had been offered 450 copies.
The top manager added that the company’s plans may change, because it also discusses the launch of a second model to come out on the market in 2024. It will be set up based on the sedan Galibier, presented as a concept in 2009. If Bugatti made a similar car, the creation of the successor to Chiron will be postponed no earlier than 2032. Otherwise, the Bugatti Chiron was introduced in 2016, and is equipped with a W16 engine with 4 turbines, developing a power of 1,500 hp. The coupe accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in 2.5 seconds, and its maximum speed is electronically limited to 420 km / h. With the elimination of the limiter, the Chiron can reach 465 km / h.
